MOULT

Summer       SC              sp

Winter           wp             wp

Young sp: The post-juvenile moult includes most of body, most LC and MC (but a few are often retained), and 0-4 inner GC.
Young wp: The pre-breeding moult is generally more extensive than the post-juvenile moult. Most LC and MC are included, as well as 6-9 inner GC. The inclusion of RR and TT may not be properly studied, but at least males seem to regularly return to Scandinavia vid pre-breeding RR and TT. Manys birds also include S6 (and occationally S4-5 as well).
Adult SC: The post-breeding moult generally includes the whole plumage, but S6 is sometimes retained.
Adult wp: The pre-breeding moult is generally more extensive than the post-breeding moult. Most LC and MC are included, as well as 6-9 inner GC. The inclusion of RR and TT may not be properly studied, but at least males seem to regularly return to Scandinavia with pre-breeding RR and TT. Manys birds also include S6 (and occationally S4-5 as well).
