Hippolais icterina - spring

Icterine Warbler

AGE – BEST CRITERIA:

Not possible to age due to complete pre-breeding moult in both age classes. A variation in wear is seen in spring migrating birds, probably best explained by differentiated (or prolonged) periods of moult during winter. Due to the development of the colour of iris in young birds during winter, the character is not safe to use for aging.

2cy+ May. Whole wing is pre-breeding. [CV04217]
