Male, 2cy, May. Whole bib bright and sharply demarcated blue, including throat. Black breast band and rufous in central spot and breast varible. [1ET82387]

Male, 2cy, May, showing variation. [1ET82366]

Female, 2cy, May. Most young female lack any blue or rufous. [1ET82340}

Female, 2cy, May. A few young females are more bright, showing some blue on lower throat and sides of throat, and occasionally some rufous on upper breast. [1EZ23047]

Male, 3cy+, May. Whole bib bright and sharply demarcated blue, including throat. Black breast band and rufous in central spot and breast varible. [1EZ23028]

Female, 3cy+, May. Ad females are rather varible and may lack any blue or rufous. [1ET82328]

Female, 3cy+, May. Some ad females are brighter, showing rather large portions of blue in throat as well as some rufous on upper breast. However, the pattern is never as bright, contrasting and shaply demarcated as in males. [1EV96547]
