Young sp: The post-juvenile moult includes the body, LC, MC and inner GC (90% of our birds at Ottenby have included 3-6 inner GC in the moult). In exceptional cases (<0,5% of our birds) where all GC are moulted, the contrast is seen towards the juvenile PC. Rather few birds include R1 and inner TT (and according to Svensson [1992] all TT may be included in the moult, but this must be rare indeed) and R1.
Adult SC: The post-breeding moult includes the whole plumage.
Number of GC included in the post-juvenile moult shown as percentage of 1cy birds at Ottenby 2000-2013 (n=231).
SEX:
No plumage differences.
